Under the Horizon

The young Taiwanese dancer and choreographer Huang Yi is a phenomenon in the world of dance. His multiple award-winning production Huang Yi & Kuka, in which he dances with a robot, attracted worldwide attention.

In his brand-new work Under the Horizon, the dancers of the Huang Yi Studio+ join forces with the Nederlands Kamerkoor in a journey to the horizon. A horizon where, according to Chinese mythology, the hereafter begins.

With Under the Horizon, Yi presents his own poignantly topical and personal interpretation of the tragic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice. A performance in which modern dance and movement, live choral music, and pioneering audiovisuals – created by the international audiovisual celebrity Ryoichi Kurokawa (Japan) – establish a hallucinatory connection with each other.

From 15 September to 2 December the Robot Love exhibition features at the former Campina Milk Factory in Eindhoven. With works by more than 50 international artists on display, Robot Love is the artistic translation of the current debate about the development of robots and artificial intelligence (AI) in daily life. The exponential growth of technology gives reason for optimism while it also confronts us with ethical dilemma’s. How do we create the ideal surroundings in which man and robot feel safe and loved? How close can we get and how far can we go?
